    First, take our online hearing test to see if you're a candidate for Lively. Designed by audiologists, learn more about our research-backed test here. Once you place your order, we'll program your hearing aids based on your test results and ship them right to your door, usually within a few days.     Once you receive your hearing aids, you'll attend a video orientation with a licensed hearing specialist. During the Zoom call, your professional will review your ear health history and hearing goals with you, so that they can adjust your hearing aids and set you up for success. They'll then go over how to wear and maintain your hearing aids with the cleaning tools in your Lively Kit, and make sure that everything is fitting correctly with the included ear measurement tool.

    Your hearing specialist will also confirm that your hearing aids are connected to our free smartphone app, so that you can control your own settings and request remote hearing adjustments from our Audiology Team.

  • Lively offers real, Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids — not mere amplifiers. Your hearing aids will be custom-programmed specifically to your needs based on Lively's online hearing test or a recent audiogram. Unlike amplifiers, our medical-grade hearing aids are designed specifically for people with hearing impairment. They reduce unwanted background noise and prioritize speech, helping you hear better in places like loud restaurants and outdoor spaces. It's the same kind of technology you would receive from a traditional hearing clinic.

    You'll also work one-on-one via video call with a licensed hearing specialist, who will fine-tune your settings remotely based on your unique hearing goals and experiences.

  • Hearing aids must comply with FDA requirements and are generally classified as exempt medical devices with the FDA, so they typically don't require specific approval from the FDA to be considered legitimate and safe to use. See this FDA page for more information.

    Lively hearing aids are listed with the FDA as required and meet all FDA regulations to be sold as "hearing aids" designed to aid people with or compensate for impaired hearing.

    Lively sells high-quality, Bluetooth-enabled (wireless) hearing aids as defined and regulated by the FDA — not simple amplifiers. Our hearing aids are programmed specifically for you based on the results from our online hearing test or a recent audiogram. Because they're custom programmed for your unique hearing, our hearing aids amplify the frequencies where you're having trouble, while amplifiers typically just make everything louder.

  • Both of our hearing aid models are Bluetooth-enabled, which means you can connect your hearing aids to your smartphone to stream calls and music right to your ears using a compatible smartphone/device. Check out our list of compatible devices here. (If you want to stream calls and music directly to your hearing aids using an older Android phone, we offer the Phone Clip+).

    Bluetooth also allows you to connect to the Lively app, turning your phone into a remote control. With the Lively app, you can easily turn up the volume, adjust your settings, and receive convenient remote adjustments from your hearing specialist— all from the palm of your hand.

  • You sure can! Many of our customers wear hearing aids and glasses together comfortably. While there may be an adjustment period, a properly fitting hearing aid will stay put. Our tip is to avoid glasses with particularly thicker arms.

  • When you receive your hearing aids in the mail, they're already pre-programmed for your specific hearing loss based on your online hearing test or recent audiogram. But to get your hearing aids even better tuned, you'll work with a licensed hearing specialist via 1-on-1 Zoom video calls for further adjustments, which you'll download remotely through the Lively smartphone app. And if you ever have a sound issue during your 3-year included support period, you can also request a remote adjustment through the app, whenever. So no more trips to an office for easy tweaks to your hearing.

    Heading to a noisy restaurant or outdoor park? The Lively app features 4 pre-set programs, all of which can be adjusted by your hearing specialist, so you can adjust your settings to your current listening environment (All-Around, Restaurant, Outdoors, or Music). The app also offers 'quick actions' to filter noise or focus on speech — helping you easily tweak your settings on the fly.

  • Yes! Before we ship your hearing aids to you, they'll be custom programmed to your specific needs based on the results from your online hearing test or recent audiogram.

  • As a company committed to expanding access to hearing care we are excited that the FDA finalized the OTC hearing aid regulations on August 17, 2022.  This regulation, resulting from legislation enacted in 2017, establishes a new category of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids in the US, enabling adult consumers with perceived mild to moderate hearing impairment to purchase hearing aids directly from stores, online retailers or others without the required involvement of a licensed professional including for services like a medical exam, prescription or a fitting adjustment.

    Lively was founded with the goal of making hearing care more accessible and affordable to more people.  Operating within current (pre-OTC) regulations, we already provide hearing aids with full remote care to consumers at a cost thousands less than the national average. While we believe a transition to OTC will allow us to make additional improvements to our experience, we don't anticipate the regulation having a significant change to our offering or the benefits our customers receive from it.

    The new OTC regulations don't take effect until October 17, 2022 and existing hearing aids, such as the ones Lively sell, can continue to be sold under the existing regulations until as late as April 14, 2023.  Until we transition to OTC, Lively's hearing aids will continue to be sold in compliance with current applicable FDA (pre-OTC) and state regulations. This includes being sold on an FDA-required "restricted device" basis with the oversight and involvement of Lively's trained and licensed audiologists and hearing aid dispensers, not "over-the-counter".

Pricing

  • We offer three hearing aid models. The Lively 2 Lite (battery-powered) is just $1,195 and comes with a year's supply of batteries, the Lively 2 Plus (rechargeable) is just $1,595 and comes with a convenient Charging Case, and the Lively 2 Pro is $1,995 and comes with a convenient Charging Case and our most advanced technology.

    All models include 3 years of hearing care and tech support, Bluetooth streaming capability, and our free smartphone app. For those who qualify, we also offer easy and affordable financing options through our partner Bread.

  • Depends on the state of your shipping address. Some states in the US require sales tax to be paid on hearing aids, some require it only on hearing aid accessories, and some do not require it at all. Note, if you return your hearing aids for a refund, sales tax will be refunded as well.

  • Our high-quality hearing aids are identical to those sold at brick-and-mortar audiologist offices, but through our direct online model, we're able to keep costs low and pass the savings on to you. We've found that our hearing aids are typically thousands less than the national average price of a traditional in-person clinic.   • We accept all major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover, as well as PayPal and FSA/HSA payment methods (check with your FSA/HSA administrator to confirm eligibility). Through our partner Bread, we also offer financing options with low monthly payments.

  • That depends on your insurance plan and coverage. The best way to verify your coverage is to call your health insurance provider directly. It's helpful to confirm your eligibility, benefit amount available, and if it is primary or secondary insurance.

    If your plan does cover all or part of your hearing aids, call us and we'll walk you through the reimbursement process — including sending us a recent audiogram (within the last 6 months) and attending a quick video consultation with our Audiology Team prior to shipment.   • No — all you need to do is take our 5-minute online hearing test to see if you're a candidate and establish a baseline to program your hearing aids. Once you receive your hearing aids, a Lively hearing specialist will adjust your settings remotely through our smartphone app.

    Please note that for any insurance reimbursement, including Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB), you'll be required to submit a recent audiogram (within the last 6 months) for diagnosis prior to your hearing aids being shipped.   • For the best camouflage, we recommend selecting a color that closely matches your hair color. If you don't have enough hair to cover them, match your skin tone instead. Rest assured that no matter which color you choose, we've found that our small devices are still barely noticeable.

  • Once you've taken our online hearing test and placed your order, your hearing aids should arrive within days. Your email receipt will include shipping and tracking information.

    Note that our audiology team will review your results if there are any red flags, so we may reach out to you to discuss your results before we ship your hearing aids, which may add a couple of days. Hearing Test

  • Lively's research-backed hearing test was created by our team of leading audiologists. Designed to be taken online from the comfort of home, our test provides us with enough information to create your personal hearing profile and program your hearing aids before we ship them to you. It is not a diagnostic test, but if your results, or your responses to any of our questions, or anything our Audiology Team notices or learns in our video calls with you, indicate any medical conditions beyond common hearing loss, we will advise you to seek further care.

  • We've tested a number of commonly used headphones and earbuds, and all of them performed adequately for our online hearing test. As long as yours are functioning properly, we're confident they'll work just fine. Note the online test is designed to be taken with headphones or earbuds, not speakers.   • After you complete our online hearing test, your results will be analyzed and used to program your hearing aids under the supervision of a licensed audiologist. Once you receive your hearing aids, you'll work with a licensed hearing specialist to further adjust them as needed to work even better for you.

  • Yes! If you have a recent audiogram, take our survey to see if you're a candidate and select 'Upload your audiogram' instead of taking the hearing test. Just note that a Care Team member may reach out to you if we still need more info.

Follow-up Care

  • Once you receive your hearing aids, you'll enjoy 3 years of follow-up hearing care and technical support. We'll connect you to a licensed hearing specialist via video conference for an initial orientation call and a series of follow-ups as needed. After you're all set-up, you can request easy adjustments through the Lively app, as often as you like. And if you ever have an issue, our friendly Care Team is a phone call or scheduled video call away.

  • Yes! With your included 3 years of remote care, our dedicated support team is available 7 days a week via phone, chat, or email. While we make everything easy with video tutorials and our Quick Start Guide, we're happy to walk you through every technical step, like how to pair your hearing aids to your phone. To connect with a team member, reach out any time or schedule a video appointment by logging into your account.

  • Once you connect your hearing aids to the Lively app via Bluetooth, you can request a remote adjustment, any time. No need to come into an office or make an appointment. In the app, simply answer a few questions to tell us about the sound issue, then our Audiology Team will adjust your settings for you — usually within 24 hours. When our team sends you the new settings in the app, you'll download them to your devices and start noticing the change instantly.

  • Your Lively Kit comes with tools for proper cleaning and maintenance, like wax guards, extra earbuds, and a cloth and brush. We also have helpful video guides, like how to clean your hearing aids and how to change the wax filters. Hearing Health

  • It's a misconception that mild hearing loss isn't serious enough for hearing aids. In Audiology, the term "mild" is only used in comparison to not being able to hear at all. And because hearing loss occurs gradually — sometimes over decades — you may not even realize how bad it is.
